Ecological construction
The focus in the Amtshof building is on ecological construction methods.
Clay, local wood, sustainable energy from the sun and earth, and shielded electrical cables all contribute to a pleasant indoor climate. In this way, history and sustainability are harmoniously combined.

Clay
From the very beginning of the general renovation of the "Amtshof", one thing was clear to us: We will build with natural materials.
24 tons of rammed earth, supplemented by clay building panels, clay bricks and clay plaster, now create a pleasantly balanced living climate in our rooms and sustainably reduce environmental impact.

Wood
In 1997, we had to fell our 80-year-old spruce forest due to a bark beetle infestation. The wood was left to dry naturally in the barn for ten years before being processed into flooring for the Amtshof (former administrative building) in 2007. We deliberately avoided varnishes, sealants, and waxes to prevent harmful fumes in the living areas – this noticeably improves the indoor air quality.

Energy
We have consciously chosen sustainable energy. We collect solar power on the barn roof, and we use the natural heat of the earth in the ground beneath us.
This allows us to heat and supply the administrative building with hot water in an environmentally friendly way – while at the same time being mindful of the resources of our surroundings.

Electrosmog
At our office, mindfulness extends right down to the wiring:
Only shielded power cables were used to reduce electromagnetic pollution – for the most relaxed and pleasant room environment possible.
